Happy New Year!
The following letter was emailed a couple of days ago to our members and attenders. I thought I would post it here as an encouragement to others as well…
In just a couple of days we’ll be dismissing the year 2010 and ushering in a new one. How did 2010 go for you? Some will say it was the best year of their lives, others, not so great. However your year ended, the fact is, it is over…it’s through, it’s complete, it is a part of your past now. It may be remembered, however, it will never be relived.
With that thought in mind, what is your approach to the year 2011? Have you thought much about it yet? Have you made any resolutions that somehow, someway, things are going to be different? If you haven’t as of yet, let me encourage you to begin to pray about what God wants to do in your life this year.
Let me invite you to start the year off by being at Victory the first Sunday of the New Year! We will begin a new series of messages entitled, “The Unshakable Church.” I can assure you that it will be an encouragement as well as a challenge to you and your family. The storms of life will continue to rage, however, His Church is built upon a Rock that will not falter or fail regardless of the fierceness of adversity. Jesus informs us in Matt. 16:18b, “…upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Church, what a great promise from a great Lord!
With the holidays, sicknesses, family emergencies, and many other distractions, we have all been taxed these last couple of months, sometimes causing even our spiritual lives to be affected and hindered, and we all know how that “trickles” down to the rest of our lives. Let me reiterate, a fresh start is available for us all. Let’s put everything behind us and not forsake “…the assembling of ourselves together…” Heb. 10:25a
If you really want to know the truth of the matter, I’m also desperately looking forward to having a “clean slate” so to speak. All the failures, shortcomings, hurt feelings, bad decisions, procrastinated moments, ignorant mistakes, painful losses, wrong assumptions, missed deadlines…all of it, I can place in a “folder” labeled “2010” and file it away in the recesses of my mind. I’m reminded of the passage in Philippians 3, “…forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Know this, I love you and I’m for you…let’s take 2011 head on, with Him being our Guide!
